Ahh, the Oxford English Dictionary. Such a reliable source. It tells us when we spell things wrong. It defines things that we don’t understand. It’s never wrong. After all, it is the Oxford English Dictionary.
So why then, has the text slang word ‘woot’ now been added to it?
Not just that but SEXTING, RETWEET and, the now (apparently) multi-purpose word, FOLLOWING have also been thrown in there.
I’m all for expanding our language. But at this rate, can you see the English A Level exam papers in years to come?
